1878 $3 PCGS MS-64 CAC

There is something distincly special about $3 gold, and we dont know how to describe it but, those familiar with the series will know exactly what we mean. This choice near gem example exhibits satiny luster and has a natural peach color, just a few tiny ticks can be found using magnification. We had this coin side by side with another 1878 in 64+ CAC, and this one was by all means a nicer coin. 
 
We bought this coin directly out of the February Long Beach auction on HA for $7800. At the time, the price guide was $8000 and the CAC guide was $7800. Since then, a couple inferior examples have sold for less and dragged the guides down with them. We recognize that we bought this at a high price and subsequently are listing it below cost. There is no better coin suited for a type set than this one, as its still relatively affordable in comparison to the scarce dates and extremely solid for the grade.

    Shipping method will vary based on value and delivery location, but generally, we will use either Fedex overnight or USPS Priority or Priority Express. Either method will be fully insured and require signature for delivery. Also, depending on the value of the item, your package might include a tracking device at our discretion.
