1903-S $10 PCGS MS-66+ CAC Ex. Simpson-Hall
We think it would be better to defer to Laura Sperber's description for this coin where it was first offered in the Regency XV by Legend Auctions, circa 12/2015 -
"This is the finest MS66+ we have ever seen! Mother Nature did her finest work on this superb gem! The surfaces are pristine and sleek, while a full, booming luster makes the wild, two tone, spotless orange/yellow gold colors really pop. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and fully struck. The eye appeal is jaw dropping! This coin will challenge any MS67 and it is nicer and more colorful than any other MS66+ on the market. Not to mention this coin’s impeccable pedigree! There is simply no better time to buy a gold rarity like this."
The coin sold in that auction for the tidy sum of $13,512, and it was subsequently offered several more times in recent years. Ex HA 11/20 where it brought $10,200 in a much weaker market, then again at Legend 9/21 when it brought $10,868. Its most recent auction appearance was on GreatCollections in 04/23 where it brought $14,625. At the time that we aquired this coin, the PCGS price guide was $15,000, but that figure was subsequently lowered when an inferior 66+ CAC sold on heritage for a mere $10,500. Please enjoy the video for your viewing pleasure, as its necessary to fully take in the beauty of the two-tone color.
