1936 Buffalo Nickel 5C Type One - Satin Finish PR65 PCGS CAC OGH
The Buffalo Nickel Proofs are tough to find and have relatively low mintages, this variety sports a mintage of 4,420. 1936 ended a 20-year hiatus of not minting Proof Buffalos, and this was a major change compared to the matte proofs of 1913-16.1936 had two types of proofs minted – Type 1 and Type 2 – Satin Proofs and Brilliant Proofs.
This beautifully toned example is the satin-proof variety. A hammered strike along with gorgeous pastel rainbow toning that really pops in hand. The toning pattern is similar to wood-grain, were not exactly sure how to describe it but it sure is pretty!
